Outdoor Film | The Artist (2011)
Revel in a summer evening in Hillwood’s luscious gardens and experience an outdoor film like nowhere else in D.C., presented as part of Films on the Green DC. This city-wide film series is free and offers a variety of French or Francophone movies related to dance.
Explore Hillwood’s current exhibition Determined Women: Collectors, Artists, and Designers at Hillwood before taking in The Artist, a French comedy-drama homage to old Hollywood cinema in the style of a black-and-white silent film.

ABOUT THE FILM
In the 1920s, silent film actor George Valentin is a bona fide matinee idol with many adoring fans. While working on his latest film, George finds himself falling in love with an ingenue named Peppy Miller. The growing popularity of sound in movies separates the potential lovers, as George's career begins to fade while Peppy's star rises. Their intertwined destinies engagingly play out over the backdrop of this pivotal moment in cinema.
