Dinnertime Documentaries | Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché (2018)

This is the third and final event in the Dinnertime Documentaries series. ​

Enjoy spring evenings at Hillwood with documentaries that highlight French history and culture at the turn of the century! Tour Hillwood’s mansion, gardens, greenhouse, special exhibition Marjorie Merriweather Post's Paris at Hillwood, eat a delicious meal at Merriweather Café, and enjoy a film. This evening’s featured documentary is Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché, directed by Pamela B. Green.

ABOUT THE FILM

Pamela B. Green's energetic film about pioneer filmmaker Alice Guy-Blaché (1873-1968) is both a tribute and a detective story, tracing the circumstances by which this extraordinary artist faded from memory and the path toward her reclamation. Narrated by Jodie Foster, Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché is a two-hour feature documentary investigating the full scope of the life and work of cinema's first female director, screenwriter, producer, and studio owner Alice Guy-Blaché.
