Royalty, aristocrats, American heiresses, exiled Russian grand dukes, randlords, maharajas, socialites, and financiers with newly made fortunes flocked to Fabergé in London. Learn about the glittering history of Fabergé's British branch, from its opening in 1903 to its closure in 1917. The imperial Russian goldsmith's London branch was the only one outside of Russia, and its jeweled and enameled contents were as popular there as they were in St. Petersburg or Moscow.

About the Speaker

Kieran McCarthy is an expert on the work of Russian imperial jeweler Carl Fabergé. He is managing director of Wartski, London, a member of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, and a Fellow of the Gemological Association. He advises collectors and institutions on the work of Fabergé. He is a member of the advisory board of the Fabergé Museum in St. Petersburg. In 2014, he revealed the existence of the lost third imperial Fabergé Easter egg and exhibited it for the first time in 112 years. He has published widely and recently authored Fabergé in London: The British Branch of the Imperial Russian Goldsmith (2017), an in-depth study of Fabergé’s London branch and its customers.
